Finding Work in Odemira: Farm, Tourism and More

If you are looking for work around Odemira and the Alentejo coast, you will mostly find four areas: agriculture, poultry, tourism and hospitality, and construction. Each has its own rhythm and demands. Here is a simple picture of what to expect, what to prepare and how to apply through our website.

What kind of work is there

At AllGreen we work with four sectors. The roles available change through the year and depend on the companies that need people, so there is no fixed list. But it helps to know, in general terms, what each area is like.

  • Agriculture: work in the open or in greenhouses, such as picking, weeding, planting or packing. It tends to be physically demanding and depends on the season
  • Poultry: work in bird units, with tasks and hygiene rules specific to the site
  • Tourism and hospitality: cleaning, kitchen, table service, front desk and general support, busier in summer
  • Construction: support on site and general tasks, depending on the work in progress

What employers usually look for

Every job is different, but some qualities almost always count: punctuality, willingness to work in a team and the ability to follow instructions. For physical jobs, be ready for long days, heat or cold and repetitive tasks. You do not need experience in every area; in some cases you learn on site, in others experience counts for more.

We never promise a wage, hours or a duration before talking to you, because they depend on the role and the client. If an offer sounds too good to be true, be careful.

It also helps to know that in many of these jobs the start is the hardest part: the body is not yet used to it, the tasks are new and the place is unfamiliar. Always ask about anything you do not understand, and ask more experienced colleagues for help. Those who ask early usually have fewer difficulties.

What to prepare before you apply

To begin, you do not need much. It helps to have some basic information ready, so we can understand what you are looking for.

If you are unsure about any of these points, do not let that stop you from applying. A simple, honest application, with what you know and what you are looking for, is worth more than waiting until everything is perfect.

  • Your name and a way to reach you, preferably a phone that you answer
  • Where you are and whether you can travel to the workplace
  • The area where you would like to work, or more than one
  • Your availability: from when you can start and for how long
  • The languages you speak, even if only a little
  • The experience you have, even if little. A simple CV helps, but it is not required for the first contact

How to apply

You can apply through the form on our website, or contact the office by phone or email, Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00. At this stage the form needs no account and no attached documents: the essentials are enough. Our team may then contact you to get to know your interest better.

Two important points: AllGreen does not accept applicants under 18, and workers pay AllGreen nothing to work with us.

If it is easier for you, you can use the phone instead of the form and explain your situation in person. What matters is that you tell us the area, the place and your availability.

Housing, transport and what comes next

Many people ask about housing and transport. It depends on the role, the location and the client, and it is discussed case by case. We cannot guarantee it before speaking with you, so always ask before accepting an offer.

Sending an application does not guarantee a placement: it depends on what companies need at any given time. But it lets us know about your interest, and it is a simple first step.

If you wish, you can phone or write before you apply to ask questions. A simple question, such as “what kind of work is available right now?”, can help you decide whether it is worth going ahead.
