Hospitality staff in the west Algarve: choosing roles

A manager who writes that the hotel needs extra staff for the season has said very little. Kitchen, rooms, table service, bar and front desk support are different jobs, and each one calls for a different kind of person. This checklist walks through how to describe each role before you get in touch, so your request is easy to read and the next conversation is shorter. It is not a promise of any outcome, just a way to organise what you already know.

Why does describing the role matter more than the headcount?

Saying you need more people tells us little. Saying you need someone to wash up, someone for dinner service and someone to clean rooms tells us a great deal. The description of the role helps us judge whether we have people with a suitable profile, and it helps the person starting to know what to expect.

Availability depends on the season, the role and the moment, so we do not promise fixed deadlines or guaranteed numbers. A clear description simply saves back-and-forth and makes it easier to see what is possible in your case.

Kitchen: which tasks should you name?

Kitchen work covers very different tasks. Say whether you need prep and kitchen support, dishwashing, a cook's assistant, or someone with experience on a more demanding section. Mention the kind of service too: breakfast, lunch, dinner, buffet, à la carte or events.

  • Main tasks: preparing ingredients, dishwashing, plating, assisting the cook
  • The type of kitchen and service the person will work in
  • Whether previous experience is needed or on-the-job learning is fine
  • Hygiene routines and uniform the team already follows

Rooms and housekeeping: how do you describe the work?

Room work looks simple, but it changes with the type of accommodation. A hotel, an apart-hotel and a small guest house all have different routines. Say whether the extra help is for cleaning rooms, shared areas, laundry or supporting the head housekeeper, and whether the team follows set presentation standards.

  • Type of accommodation and approximate size
  • Tasks: rooms, shared areas, laundry, restocking supplies
  • Who guides and supervises the team day to day
  • Whether the person works alone or in a pair

Table service, bar and front desk support: what should be clear?

In the dining room and at the bar, contact with guests is constant. Say whether you need waiting staff, service support, bar or terrace cover, and whether foreign languages would help, which is common in tourism along the Costa Vicentina and the Algarve.

Front desk support is a role of its own. Be concrete: welcoming guests, helping with bookings, answering calls, guiding visitors. If the role uses a specific software system, mention it. If you are not sure how to define a role yet, tell us, because we can often help to clarify it.

  • Languages needed to talk to guests
  • Systems or equipment the person will use
  • Appearance and manner you expect
  • Whether service is mostly daytime, evening or mixed

Which other details complete the request?

Beyond the roles, practical information makes the request more complete. If you have not decided something, that is fine: the form on our website lets you mark it as 'not sure yet'.

Housing and transport are not a standard promise. We discuss them case by case, depending on the role, the place and the client. If either matters to you, mention it at the start.

  • Role and main tasks
  • Location and type of business
  • Approximate period when you need the extra help
  • Experience and languages you would like
  • Who looks after the person in the first days
  • Housing or transport needs, if any

How can AllGreen help, and how do you get in touch?

We are a temporary work agency in Zambujeira do Mar, in the municipality of Odemira, working in agriculture, poultry, tourism and hospitality, and construction. You can request staff through the form on our website, by phone or by email. After the form, our team gets in touch to understand the details.

Each request is looked at case by case, and availability depends on the season, the role and the moment. Our office at Rua da Palmeira 51, Zambujeira do Mar, is open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need everything decided before I send a request?

No. Share what you know and mark 'not sure yet' on the form for anything undecided. Our team will get in touch afterwards to understand the details and help you complete the description.

Can I ask for several roles in the same request?

Yes. You can describe kitchen, rooms, service, bar and front desk support in one request, as long as you explain what each role involves. That lets us look at each profile separately.

Are housing and transport included?

They are not a standard promise. We discuss them case by case, depending on the role, the place and the client. If they matter in your case, mention them in your request.
